New Haven, CT Waterfront Weddings!

by Kim Bova on February 24, 2009

I am looking forward to Colby and Richard’s 2009 wedding at Amarante’s Seacliff in New Haven, CT!
Every wedding I have done at this beautiful venue has been spectacular. The setting is perfect for a ceremony outside on the lawn with a waterfront view and a sunset, if you time it right!
It is a great venue for photos. There is a deck to hang out on with your guests while you nibble and drink. There are two rooms to choose from – The Grand Ballroom and a smaller more intimate room with a great sunset view.
Here is the link if you want to check it out!

Here are some images from a couple of weddings that I did there recently.
(I guess I am sick of winter and longing for warm beach days!)

Drumming in Connecticut with Bob Bloom

by Kim Bova on February 24, 2009

I recently photographed the well known and highly acclaimed Connecticut master teaching artist, Bob Bloom. Here is one of the images from the shoot.

I spent a delightful morning photographing Bob and his amazing drums. If you have not yet heard of Bob,attended any of his famous drum circles or have been lucky enough to be a student participating in his workshops, then keep an ear out and jump on board when the opportunity arises!

Mansfield Center to Boynton Beach Florida!

by Kim Bova on February 19, 2009

Well, it has been a busy month. I attended the Connecticut Professional Photographers Conference earlier this month, which was held in Cromwell CT. And then the next morning I had to fly to Boynton Beach, Florida to attend to the business of helping my Mother in law clean up after a terrible flood! The weather was perfect- 75 degrees everyday; no rain and plenty of sun. Too bad I was inside most of the time with rubber gloves and a mask on hauling moldy things to the dumpster and bagging everything else!

I did manage to get into the pool for 15 minutes, took a 30 minute walk every morning, and ate some great food! My birthday was on the last day of my stay so I celebrated by sitting in a clean home! No garbage anywhere! Then I flew home with no delays, got a window seat and marveled at the earth below.

Now that I left the place spotless in Florida, I have come home to a mess at my house. (Funny, it did not look so bad when I left – but I had a shift in my perspective…) So guess what I am doing now? Yes, cleaning my nest! Ah, it is therapeutic! Luckily, I have had on-location portraits this week so no one needs to see my mess. (The cleaning process can look much worse while you are doing it, don’t you think? And no, I will not post a photo of my mess!) Well, here is one of the clean Florida house. You could eat off those floors now!

Have a great day.

Headshots for Musicians and Actors

by Kim Bova on February 7, 2009

I love making headshots for my clients. Especially musicians and actors.
It’s fun, I get to know them a little better and it feels like play time!
Here is Jayme, a brilliant mezzo-soprano.
