Two extraordinary people, Priya and Andy are planning an August wedding at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, CT. So, for the engagement session, we had a great time exploring the grounds of the Connecticut landmark, Gillette Castle. I am happy we postponed the first date we set, because the weather could not have been more perfect!

The castle has some beautiful light in the evening and when it reflects off the stone of the castle, it is really pretty. Even in B&W there is plenty of interest there. Thank you Priya and Andy for such a fun afternoon. I look forward to the wedding coming up soon!

I am celebrating the love between Petra and Derrick on the blog today! These two very special people are to be married in October and I look forward to their wedding at Amarante’s! They were right at home in the fields around my studio in Mansfield, CT. The love I saw and felt between them warmed my heart!
I feel that the engagement session is an opportunity for engaged couples to capture something special for themselves that they may not have another chance to do. These days leading up the the wedding day are very special.
Thank you, guys, for a wonderful afternoon together.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. Check back for other engagements, weddings and portraits; and friend me on facebook, too!

What is an engagement session and why do I do them? This is the question I get asked most when I meet with my newly engaged couples. It is simple. This is the opportunity for you as a couple to see how I work, feel what it feels like to be in front of the camera, and for both of us to get to know each other better and establish a relationship before the wedding day. For me it is a great way to explore and see how you photograph and what angles make you look your very best, so that I can give you my best when it really matters on the big day! AND, last but not least, it is fun and you both have a great experience with great images of yourselves to remember this time in your lives forever.
Here are a few of my favorites images from Erika and Steven’s session. These were taken on a spectacular day at Horsebarn Hill on the UConn campus in Storrs.
