Welcome to my personal projects page. Here is where I share some current projects.
A- 'Wall Murmurs', is a series of photographs of shadows and reflections found on my walls here at home this year, 2023. This is very personal work for me. In January, my husband was home recuperating from knee replacement surgery. We were housebound for months and I began noticing interesting shadows created by the winter light on my walls. I was infatuated with them. Then, it occurred to me to create diptychs by pairing these images with another shadow or wall found in my home. Months later, while questioning my sanity, I discovered why I was addicted to finding more and more shadows every day. These were a reflection of my life. Me and my husband are aging together, side by side, and my short term memory is noticably fleeting... just like the shadows on my walls. This is truly personal work for me. I hope you enjoy them.
The image called, 'Spirit', recently won an honorable mention at the Monson Arts Council, in Monson, MA.
B- Using my small dog figures, birds, or other found objects, I create small tabletop sets and then combine them with images from my travels. 'Dogs Night Out' was created after visiting 'Graffiti Alley' in Ghent, Belgium. I created this image in the Alley late one evening when no people were present, then added the dogs for fun.
C- My Dead Bird Project started a couple of years ago when a small sparrow crashed into my picture window on my home and found it on my front doorstep. This had a profound effect on me since I grew up in a family of bird watchers.
The image,' Bending Branch-Arching Flower' won the 1st place award in photography from the Monson Arts Council, House of Art, in Monson, MA. Here is the caption I wrote for this image: ‘Life will sometimes bend for us and grant us a bit of grace.’ (Scroll down to view it in the gallery).
* 'Summoning Strength' won two prizes: 1st place award print competition sponsored by the Professional Photographers of America CT chapter, and won 2nd Place at the Arts Center East Show titled, "Coping: Responding Through Art".
** 2 bird images, 'DryingOut and 'Reflections Grasp' were Nominees for the 'International Color Awards.
