Welcome to my new blog
Feb 06, 2020
Happy 2020! Welcome to my new blog and website. I made the transition away from photographing weddings and started putting more attention on my personal art photography this past year. I still remain a Portrait photographer but have integrated art into the mix on this new website and storefront.
Let me introduce myself. I am a former pianist, trained in New York at the Mannes College of Music, State University of NY at Purchase and earned a Masters in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. That's my former life, which I value greatly. However, after marriage, 2 children and many moves around the country, I pivoted to my 'hobby' of photography by enrolling in the Photography program at UCONN. This opened up a whole new chapter in my life as I began working as a wedding photographer. I loved the excitement of that life and the people I've met along the way. Now, 15 years later, after building a weddings and portrait business from my home, I am adding art photography and letting go of weddings as of December 2019. Art photography has been on the back burner and now I am breaking out and seeing where it goes.
I strive to create photographs that will evoke some kind of feeling in the viewer. That has become 'my guide' as a photographer. When photographing weddings I found that my best photos were those moments where I 'saw and felt' something very strong in that moment. It took some time to discover this and it is the same concept that was in my musical life. Interesting, eh? I find it quite profound how all art comes from 'feeling'. So, I hope my work resonates with you and come back often to see what is new. Thank you.
This collection of work will be growing so sign up for my email newsletter to stay connected and be the first to know about what's new. I promise I won't spam your inbox!
Thank you,
Kim
